These twins are now 5 1/2 weeks old. Both heifer calves, they’re still smaller than the other calves born after them. A few nights ago, just as things had returned to some kind of normal following the fires, the little one on the left was attacked by a wild dog. Can you imagine Mum, with 2 babies to protect? Somehow she managed it but not before the dog took a significant chunk out of one of the calf’s hind legs. I won’t show you the wound, it’s pretty nasty. After a good clean out by the vet, we’ve been attending to it twice daily and I’ve just applied a fresh load of Cetrigen (an antibacterial spray which also acts as an insect repellent, keeping away the flies and therefore maggots), so she has a bright purple rear. Mum is happily feasting and these 2 are now just hangin’ in the yards #farmlife #wilddogs 😡 #calves #breeding #cows #drought #wilddogattack #twincalves #countrylife #lifeinthecountry #desperatelyneedrain #cutefarmanimals #farmanimals
