Our family has grown.
We’ve been talking about getting another dog for some time, and this year we bit the bullet. At the end of September Audrey joined our ranks. Another Jack Russell (God help us).

No doubt like many families, we have long thought we were lucky enough to have the best dog in the world. After all, there aren’t many who would take on a passenger plane in flight. But Jack did. Armed with only himself, Jack long ago gave up on birds to chase down airplanes flying overhead instead – any one would do, whether following the distant jet stream of a jumbo or the sound breaking barrier of a fighter jet from Williamtown, out on a practise run. Up the hill he’d run until he was out of sight – and we’d joke that one day he’d walk back down with the pilot. Continue reading

I had no idea, when we first got chooks, that I’d get so attached. That I’d get so used to having them around. That I’d chat to them as I gardened. That I’d laugh at them. That I would enjoy holding them, stroking their silken feathers. That I’d love them so much. That I’d miss them so very much when they were gone.
